Wasyl Plischka

Василь народився в сімʼї Теклі і Павла Плішка і був єдиною дитиною. Коли йому було 5 місяців батька забрали на польсько-німецьку війну в 1939 році. Вони зустрілись через 38 років, коли Василь з родиною-дружиною Дарією і дочками Марусею і Галею приїхали до Канади.

Життя в еміграції почалось з вивчення мови, роботи в школі. Допомагав багатьом українським родинам, був добрим парафіянином.
Був люблячим чоловіком, батьком, дідусем і прадідусем.
Він назавжди залишиться в серцях рідних, близьких і друзів.
Вічна йому памʼять

Wasyl Plischka was born in Ternopil Region in the village of Rosokhach, Ukraine and lived through hardships that many can scarcely imagine—war, famine, and the weight of uncertainty. When he came to Canada on November 23, 1977 with his family, he brought with him a quiet resilience and a steady determination to build a better life, not only for himself, but for those he loved.

To everyone who knew him, Wasyl was the one you could count on. He was always ready to help, quick to answer the call to action, and the kind of man who showed up—no questions asked. In difficult moments, he was a calm presence and a sound voice of reason, offering strength, perspective, and steady guidance when it was needed most.

And even now, his presence won’t leave us. In the lessons he taught, the values he passed down, and the example he set, Wasyl will always be there—pointing out, directing, and showing us the next steps in our lives. We will hear his steady voice in our choices, and feel his guidance in the moments we need it most.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Darka; his daughters, Maria and Helena; his sons-in-law, Mykola and David; his grandchildren, Tianna and Michael; his granddaughter-in-law, Matricia; and his great-grandson, Mason. Wasyl will be dearly missed and forever remembered—for his strength, his kindness, and the unwavering support he gave to everyone around him.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 6 Street NE) on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 7:00 pm.  Divine Liturgy will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 10:00 am.
